  • Welcome!

The Apache Software Foundation provides support for the Apache community of open-source software projects. The Apache projects are characterized by a collaborative, consensus based development process, an open and pragmatic software license, and a desire to create high quality software that leads the way in its field. We consider ourselves not simply a group of projects sharing a server, but rather a community of developers and users.

You are invited to participate in The Apache Software Foundation. We welcome contributions in many forms. Our membership consists of those individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to collaborative open-source software development through sustained participation and contributions within the Foundation's projects.

    Featured Projects

Below we feature a few of the many Apache projects.

    Apache Incubator Project

    http://incubator.apache.org

A new Apache project, providing an entry path to the Apache Software Foundation for projects and codebases wishing to become part of the Foundation's efforts. Code donations from external organisations and existing external projects wishing to move to Apache will enter through the Incubator. A large part of the Incubator's effort will be devoted to providing documentation on how the Foundation works, and how to get things done within its framework. As a consequence, it is expected that the Incubator will also become a reference for new contributors to any of the Apache projects.

    Apache Ant Project

    http://ant.apache.org

Apache Ant has recently become a top-level Apache project. Check out its new website to see a powerful and extensible Java-based build tool.
